Rene Herse has released two needle-bearing headsets, both for 1-inch threaded steerers.

The Rinko model has retainers to keep the bearings inside when you remove the fork as you pack your bike for travel. The Low-Stack headset is designed to work as a replacement even on bikes with very short steerer tubes, with a stack height of  38 mm. The weigh 119 grams and 96 grams, respectively. They are polished, not anodized, so they conduct electricity for riders who use their frame and fork as the return path for generator-powered lighting system.

Both are available now. Rene Herse also is offering what it calls the world's lightest headset wrench.

    Retail pricing: $ 24 (wrench); $ 189 (Low Stack headset); $ 209 (Rinko headset). More information: renehersecycles.com.
